10-Day Medical Surgical Mission Program to the Sacred Valley of the Incas in the Peruvian Andes. 


August 2-12, 2024


  • Provides International Medical Volunteer experience​ delivering medical and surgical are to the local communities in the Cuzco region of Peru.


  • Up to 50 hours of Medical Surgical clinic hours


  • Led and mentored by licensed physicians


  • Limited to a maximum of 10 students.  


  • 3:1 or better student to doctor ratio.


  • Training sessions on medical school application and interview best practices


  • Medical and Surgical shadowing opportunities


  • ​Work in a non-English speaking setting.  Most of our patients speak Quechua or Spanish.
  • Observe and Learn about patient care in a developing world setting with limited resources
  • Excursion to Machu Picchu
  • ​Optional excursions to Cuzco and other sites in the Peruvian Sacred Valley





Medical Missions  for the Peruvian Andes

Medical Surgical Volunteer and Job Shadowing, Internship and Interview Training for Prospective Medical School Students

​​Texas de Peru is offering clinical job shadowing, internship, and medical school interview training in support of our August 2024 Surgical Mission!!!

 What is  Included

 

Texas de Peru will use funds from the internship and training program and fundraising activities to offset the medical mission costs which include equipment, medications, supplies, patient care and indicated travel related expenses. Participant travel and accommodations, except air, will be provided by Texas de Peru.

The program fees cover the following costs  


  • Hotel Accommodations for Clinical Days (Double Occupancy) (6 nights)

  • Three group meals per day on Clinical Days (5 days) 
  • Group Transportation to and from Clinic and other program or mission related transport, such as airport transfers
  • Hotel Accommodations non-clinical days (Double Occupancy) (2 nights in Cuzco)
  • Excursion to Machu Picchu, including bus and train transport and guides


The following expenses are the responsibility of each individual:


  • Airfare to Cuzco.  Each volunteer is responsible for their own air arrangements.  Texas de Peru can purchase and bill for the airfare as required.​
  • Any Additional Excursions
  • ​Meals during non-clinical days

Day One
Get ready to serve and learn.  You will work with nurses and doctors to supply the clinic, prepare the operating rooms, prepare the medical supply and work areas, help as the clinicians triage surgical consults. In general the first day is all about preparing to help the team care for our patients.


6 Clinical Days

  • Patient Helper Rotations
  • Re-supply Rotation
